Their genetic descendants inhabit the same land, granted. But their society, their beliefs and systems have totally vanished. The coliseum stands but the gladiators are long gone.

Perhaps the societies that follow us will look at the way we existed: ordering shitty plastic toys from Amazon and getting them shipped around the world with disgust - much in the same way we think of Aztec human sacrifices or the slave owning Roman.
